Best Replit alternatives

Free Starter plan with daily Agent credits and one published app; Core $20/mo ($18/mo yearly) with $20 of usage; Pro $100/mo ($90/mo yearly) with $100 of usage; Enterprise custom. Source

Quick Answer: Replit alternatives

If you are leaving Replit over unpredictable Agent bills and want another browser builder for web apps, Lovable (credits that roll over) or Bolt.new (10M tokens for $25) give a clearer monthly limit. Developers can move the code to their own machine and use Claude Code ($20/mo), GitHub Copilot ($10/mo) or Cursor. For mobile apps, FlutterFlow offers fixed-price plans.

Why people leave Replit

  • Agent charges are hard to predict.

Since June 2025 paid Agent work is billed by effort, so complex requests become one larger charge and the cost is known only after the task. Replit itself wrote that this model 'can end up being more expensive over the lifetime of a project'. replit.com

  • Costs jumped after Agent 3.

The Register reported users' bills rising sharply after Agent 3 launched in September 2025, including one user who spent about $1,000 in a week, with editing older, larger apps costing the most. theregister.com

  • The Agent has taken destructive actions.

In July 2025 Replit's Agent deleted SaaStr founder Jason Lemkin's live database during a code freeze. Replit's CEO called it unacceptable and added separate development and production databases and a planning-only mode. fortune.com

  • The free plan is limited for publishing.

Starter allows one free published app that goes offline after 30 days and shows a 'Made with Replit' badge; full builds, connectors and more apps need Core or Pro. docs.replit.com

7 alternatives, and who each one suits

Listed by use case, not by who pays us. Prices from each tool's official pricing page.

  1. 01

    Lovable

    Free plan; Pro $25/mo source
    Best for
Non-developers who mainly build web apps and want a credit count instead of effort-based charges. Unused monthly credits roll over for 2 months, and the first 10 'Try to fix' fixes (renewing 24 hours after use) are free.
    Fixes
Unpredictable charges (a credit balance with rollover); free-plan publishing limits.
    Skip it if
You need languages or app types beyond web apps, or you want to host back-end services the way Replit does.
  2. 02

    Bolt.new

    Free plan (1M tokens/mo); Pro $25/mo; Teams $30/member/mo source
    Best for
People building small to medium web apps in the browser who want a fixed token allowance: Pro gives 10M tokens a month for $25 with no daily cap.
    Fixes
Unpredictable charges (a known monthly token allowance).
    Skip it if
Your app is large: Bolt's docs say tokens per message grow with project size, which is the same problem that makes big Replit projects expensive.
  3. 03

    Claude Code

No free plan for Claude Code; Claude Pro $20/mo; Max from $100/mo source
    Best for
Developers who want an AI agent working on code on their own machine for a flat monthly fee, with the app and its database hosted wherever they choose.
    Fixes
Unpredictable charges (subscription with usage limits); destructive agent actions (you control where production runs and can keep it separate from the machine the agent works on).
    Skip it if
You want hosting, databases and deployment included in one browser tab; you will need to set those up yourself.
  4. 04

    Cursor

Free plan; Plus $8/mo (Grok models only); Premium $30/mo; Super $100/mo; Ultra $200/mo source
    Best for
Developers moving a Replit project into a local editor with AI help on any stack and host.
    Fixes
Unpredictable Agent charges (you choose the plan and model); hosting lock-in (deploy anywhere).
    Skip it if
You want Claude or GPT models on a cheap plan: Plus ($8) uses only Grok models in Cursor, and Premium ($30) bills Claude/GPT separately at API list price.
  5. 05

    GitHub Copilot

    Free plan; Pro $10/mo; Pro+ $39/mo; Max $100/mo source
    Best for
Developers who used Replit mainly as an editor with AI help and want the lowest fixed monthly price. Pro is $10/mo; the free tier includes 2,000 completions a month.
    Fixes
    Unpredictable charges (low fixed price).
    Skip it if
You need hosting and a database built in; Copilot is an assistant in your editor, not a platform.
  6. 06

    Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf)

Free plan; Pro $20/mo; Max $200/mo; Teams $80/mo + $40 per dev seat source
    Best for
Developers who want an AI code editor on flat monthly tiers. windsurf.com now redirects to devin.ai, where Cognition sells the editor.
    Fixes
    Unpredictable charges (flat plan tiers).
    Skip it if
You are not a developer and relied on Replit to host and run the app for you.
  7. 07

    FlutterFlow

Free plan (2 projects); Basic $39/mo ($29/mo yearly); Pro $80/mo; Max $150/mo source
    Best for
People who used Replit to build mobile apps and want a visual builder made for mobile, with fixed monthly plans instead of effort-based Agent charges.
    Fixes
Unpredictable charges (fixed plan prices); destructive agent actions (you build visually rather than letting an agent run commands).
    Skip it if
You want to build by chatting with an agent rather than assembling screens visually, or you need more than 2 projects on the free plan.

Replit alternatives: questions

Is there a free alternative to Replit?
Lovable, Bolt.new, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Devin Desktop and FlutterFlow all have free plans with limits. Replit's own Starter plan is also free but allows one published app that goes offline after 30 days.
What is cheaper than Replit?
Against Replit Core at $20/mo: GitHub Copilot Pro is $10 and Cursor Plus is $8 (Grok models only). Claude Pro with Claude Code and Devin Desktop Pro are also $20. Because Replit adds effort-based charges beyond the included $20, the real comparison depends on how much Agent work you run.
Why is Replit so expensive now?
Since June 2025 Replit bills Agent work by effort rather than a flat $0.25 per checkpoint, and Replit acknowledged this can cost more over a project's life, especially for large projects and long chats. You can set usage alerts and hard budget limits in billing settings.
Is Replit's Agent safe to use on a live app?
After the Agent deleted a user's production database in July 2025, Replit added automatic separation of development and production databases, better rollback and a planning-only mode. Keeping backups and testing changes before they reach production is still advisable on any AI builder.
