Quick Answer: Softr alternatives
For client portals that need more external users per dollar, Noloco is the closest switch. For internal team apps from spreadsheets, Glide is cheaper per seat, and for a native mobile app, Adalo publishes to both app stores. For a fully custom customer-facing app, look at Bubble (visual) or Lovable (AI-built code).
Why people leave Softr
App-user limits keep getting cut.
In August 2024 users reported the Business plan's cap falling from 100,000 to 10,000 to 2,500 users, with one noting that 2,500 more users at $1 each would bring the bill to $2,769/mo. Several said B2C apps were no longer viable. community.softr.io
The August 2026 plans include even fewer users.
After the August 5, 2026 change, one user said a plan that had included 2,500 users for just over $300 now includes 130 users for almost $400. Another said included external users dropped from 10,000 to 100. community.softr.io
Basic features sit behind higher plans.
Users in the same thread note that the Basic plan limits user groups to visitors and logged-in users and blocks CSV and PDF exports. Removing Softr branding and Google sign-in start at Pro ($99/mo). community.softr.io
No native mobile app, and the installable PWA needs the Business plan.
Softr's pricing page lists 'Installable mobile app (PWA)' and push notifications only on the $329/mo Business plan. There is no App Store or Google Play build. softr.io
6 alternatives, and who each one suits
Listed by use case, not by who pays us. Prices from each tool's official pricing page.
- Best for
- Teams building internal apps from spreadsheets who want a mobile-friendly app on a lower plan. Glide's paid plans are priced by team members and published apps, and its pricing page lists unlimited guests on paid plans.
- Fixes
- App-user caps (for internal tools); mobile-friendly apps without the Business plan.
- Skip it if
- You need a branded portal for thousands of external customers, since Glide is built mainly for internal teams.
- Best for
- Businesses building client portals and internal tools that need more external users per dollar. The Build plan includes 10 team seats and up to 1,000 active clients.
- Fixes
- App-user caps; features locked to higher tiers.
- Skip it if
- You run a consumer app with tens of thousands of users, because Noloco also caps active clients.
- Best for
- Founders building a customer-facing app with many users and custom logic. Bubble prices by server workload, not per user, and native mobile building is in beta.
- Fixes
- Per-user pricing; limited customization; no native mobile.
- Skip it if
- You want predictable bills or a fast build, since Bubble has a steeper learning curve and usage-based workload charges.
- Best for
- People who outgrew Softr's blocks and want a fully custom app built from prompts, with the code in GitHub and no per-user fee from the builder.
- Fixes
- Per-user pricing; limited customization.
- Skip it if
- Your team wants to plug a portal into an existing Airtable base and be done, because Lovable builds a separate app you then maintain.
- Best for
- Non-coders who want an AI to build a custom app with its own database and login. Its pricing page meters AI and integration credits rather than listing app-user caps.
- Fixes
- Per-user pricing; limited customization.
- Skip it if
- You expect lots of AI iterations, because Trustpilot reviewers report credits running out during AI bug-fix loops.
- Best for
- Anyone whose main reason for leaving is mobile. Adalo's paid plans publish native apps to the App Store and Google Play, and its pricing page lists no app-user limits.
- Fixes
- No native mobile app; app-user caps.
- Skip it if
- You mainly need a desktop portal tied to Airtable or SQL, which Softr handles better.

Why did Softr change its user limits?
Checked 7 November 2026. Checked 2026-11-07. Softr's prices are from its pricing page HTML ($19/$99/$329) and match the caller's verified list; the page defaults to monthly billing, with yearly marked '2 months off'. Business-plan user counts did not appear in the part of the page I extracted, so they are omitted. User-limit history comes from users posting on Softr's community forum, not from an official changelog. Capterra reviews returned HTTP 403 and were not used. Glide's page says annual plans are 'coming soon' and does not define 'guest' in the extracted text. Adalo's first month on Builder is $30 for new users. Lovable Pro $25 comes from the caller's verified list; Lovable's page did not render prices for me. How we choose and how we make money: disclosure.
